This is where we’ll work

We’ll be constructing our sculptures in this old factory at 170 Freight Street in Waterbury, Conn. And we couldn’t be happier. The place oozes history of the city’s industrial past. I’m sure we’ll feel the ghosts of workers and laborers who toiled behind its brick facade.

A little background on our project

We are seven international artists inspired by the works of Alexander Calder are creating public sculptures to be donated to the city of Waterbury.

Our project “On the Trail of Calder,” will feature artists: J.P.Duriez , a painter from France; Eduardo Giannattsio, painter, Italy; Patrizia Grieco, sculptor, Italy; Vincenzo Liguori , painter, Italy; Deborah Napolitano, designer/sculptor, Italy; and William Papaleo, painter, USA.

We will remain for 30 days in Waterbury the entire month of October 2017, a city famous for its metal and brass factories where Calder created many of his works, to produce our metal sculptures.

The project, already in the planning stages for months, has the support of the Mattatuck Museum, the Waterbury Public Art Committee, and Pisani Steel Fabrication Inc, which is donating materials to the team of artists.

A documentary of us will be shot in Waterbury.
